Ceramics

The word "ceramics" comes from the Greek keramikos, meaning "pottery", which in turn comes from keramos, meaning "potter's clay". The terms ceramics and ceramic art refer to art objects, whether functional or decorative, made by forming clay and heating it to high temperatures. Decorative ceramics are also sometimes called "art pottery". Pottery is one of the oldest human technologies and art-forms and can be traced back as far as 10,000 BC. These ceramic items were handcrafted in Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Nepal and Thailand.
