Artisans in Senegal weave these baskets from natural fiber and plastic strips, then wrap the entire basket and lid with leather for added durability and style. The outside is embellished with an intricate woven reed detail. No animals are killed solely for their hides to create these baskets and, when possible, the artisans use recycled leather.
