A unique process was developed to create these lovely nightlights. First, a thin layer of opaque black porcelain is cast over translucent white porcelain. Next, the artist carefully etches the black porcelain away in an intricate pattern, revealing the milky white porcelain underneath. Then, the piece is fired in a kiln at over 2300 degrees Fahrenheit, which gives the porcelain great strength and the white porcelain its lovely translucency.
