Vishnu is regarded as a major god in Hinduism and Indian mythology. He is thought of as the preserver of the universe and embodies goodness and mercy. Vishnu's role is to keep the moral and natural orders intact and in balance. When this balance is disrupted, Vishnu takes a human form to set it right.
