A beautiful and novel piece of art, this actual backstrap loom splendidly displays the thick textile backstrap with three brocade designs woven by weavers in the Nahuala region of Guatemala.
The Santa Catarina-Nahuala Weaving group is made up of 24 Kiche mayan backstrap weavers who create intricate weft brocade weaving using traditional designs representing symbols inspired by nature.
