The dwarf god Bes, also spelled as Bisu, was a popular Egyptian household deity. He was believed to guard against evil spirits, protect children, ward off misfortune and kill snakes.
This mask, hand carved from Hibiscus wood, shows a bearded Bes wearing a headdress of ostrich feathers and sticking out his tongue. It is approximately 13" tall and 8" wide.
